A kidney stone is a hard stone formed within the urinary tract. Stone may be single or multiple and can occur anywhere in the urinary system. Small stones can be passed out of the body in the urine. Larger stones that cannot be passed can obstruct the kidneys causing damage to it if left untreated. Such stones are likely to be removed surgically.
