Double vision (diplopia) is seeing two images of one object. It normally occurs in both eyes but can occur in just one. Underlying causes can include weakness or paralysis of one or more of the eyeball muscles, an eye injury or blow to the head. In some cases it can be a symptom of a more serious disease such as multiple sclerosis or tumour. Such symptoms would normally warrant full investigation.
