Paralysis describes the loss of the use of limb or limbs. It can be partial or total, incomplete or complete. Causes of paralysis include trauma, tumours of the brain or spinal cord, stroke and multiple sclerosis. Symptoms and complications depend on the level or location of the damage to the spinal cord. Bladder and bowel complications are common in paraplegia and quadriplegia
