This is a surgical procedure to remove an entire lung. Removal of one lobe of the lung is known as a lobectomy and a segmental resection of excision of one or more segments of a lobe. Surgery is performed for a number of conditions including bronchiectasis, lung abscess, pulmonary tubercolosis, severe COPD, tumours and trauma.
