Pernicious Anaemia

Anaemia is due to a significant reduction in the oxygen carrying property of the blood. In pernicious anaemia it is due to a deficiency in the secretion of a substance by the cells of the stomach which is necessary for the absorption of vitamin B-12. Administration of vitamin B-12 by injection at regular intervals throughout the sufferer's lifetime is necessary. There is a small increased risk of cancer of the stomach.

Life cover, specified illness cover
Assuming a diagnosis has been made, the condition is controlled and the client is on treatment with normal haemoglobin levels, then normal rates; otherwise +50% up.

Income protection
Postpone within one year of diagnosis; otherwise +50% up.

Hospital cash cover, accident cover, contribution cover
Assuming a diagnosis has been made, the condition is controlled and the client is on treatment with normal haemoglobin levels, then normal rates; otherwise decline.
