Tinnitus is the name given to noises, usually buzzing or ringing, in the ear. It can be due to inner ear disease and, if severe, can be quite distressing.
Vertigo is a specific type of dizziness, a major symptom of a balance disorder, where there is a sensation of spinning or swaying while the body is actually stationary.
Labyrinthitis is inflammation of the inner ear causing vertigo and loss of balance.
In all of the above, hearing loss can occur. Treatment is usually by means of antibiotics.
